“Stop and talk to me” is such an awful one to hear. It’s not flattering, it’s absolutely terrifying. When you say that to a person do you have any idea what runs through their head? For me it’s literally -never- ‘Oh wow this person wants to talk to me, I am so happy and validated by this attention’. It’s ‘Oh god, what do they want? What am I supposed to do? What are they going to do to me if I don’t stop and talk to them?’. I should not have to walk around worrying about what somebody is going to do to me because you think by cat-calling and being a skeezy jerk you’re paying me the highest of compliments and me ignoring you is me being some ungrateful ‘bitch’. Go fuck yourself.
Wow. The majority of those things are lewd and disrespectful, so of course one would not want that kind of attention. That last panel is irrelevant because none of those things said were really compliments, aside from “smile, you’re so pretty!” Judging from the notes, y’all make it seem as if men shouldn’t approach women on the street at all, whether it’s genuine or not.
